Spring Entertaining, Easy FUNctional Centerpieces…

The change of seasons always seems to bring new beginnings, a fresh outlook.  Spring seems to bring this even more so.  It’s a celebration all on its own.  We are thinking about the warmer weather coming, the holidays, and of course a touch up of the house to bring the blooming season indoors.

Always looking to reuse and repurpose everything we do, I don’t think you can underestimate the beauty of fresh fruit and vegetables.  I love that you can still enjoy them later.  Throw some flowers in there and feel everything come together.  This can be used as your table, island, or sideboard centerpiece.

This past weekend, we talked a lot about adding the charcuterie board as the base to add another layer of texture and color.  There’s nothing like adding nature to your table. You can still add nibbles and bites or not.

With Spring, there is also the changing of the menus, where comfort food was our main focus, spring brings new ideas to the table.  Something lighter, crisp but still warm.

Your centerpiece could include:

  • Your Mother’s Day board could include fruit, dried fruit, brie, jam, cashews, macaroons, and fresh flowers.

  • Memorial Day with strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries then pound cake, whip cream, and star fruit to garnish.

  • A fondue vegetable display, including but not limited to, bell peppers, green beans, roasted cauliflower, radicchio, and with chunks of sourdough for an asiago fondue dip. Dinner could then be skewers of beef, pork, or chicken…done!

  • A fruit display with chocolate-covered pretzels and a vanilla cream cheese dip in the center to use as dessert for when they finish, relax and enjoy.

  • On a side table, fruits for a smoothie station as people arrive, yogurt, almond milk, and orange juice for each preference. Prosecco in a chiller, just in case someone wants a mimosa with raspberries.

  • Grilled veggies and meats for sandwiches, roasted red pepper cheese spread, arugula, and spicy marinated peppers.

  • Berries, whipping cream, peanut butter, chocolate chips, and syrup for a waffle station.

  • Could be the bar centerpiece for your cocktails…ooh, grapefruit, orange rinds, rosemary, and olives.

  • A parfait board with granola, yogurt, and fruit, chia seeds, coconut, choc chunks, nuts, oh my!

  • Bread and butter board, choices of focaccia, grilled baguette with roasted shallot, and herb butter as they sit for dinner.

Are you hungry yet? Me too.

I hope this helps. Easy shopping. Easy prep. Easy to enjoy.
