supporting local farmers…

I stopped at Purplebrown Farm Store in Peninsula this week. They have beautiful produce, bread and supplies produced by more than 50 Northeast Ohio producers from small family farms, first generation, certified organic and ecologically minded products. All produced within Northeast Ohio!

They send out an email weekly to list what farmers have brought in or you can find them at https://www.purplebrownfarmstore.com/. I bought some really pretty yellow oyster mushrooms, apples from Dillion Farm, organic onions and more. They have cheeses, lots of greens, potatoes…little butternut squash. Here are some pictures of the fabulous produce and bread I bought that day and paired with cheeses, nuts and a recipe that I will share soon.

They have hot cider and coffee every weekend and are also offering a Thanksgiving bundle of veggies. Stop by, eat local!

Out of crackers today, so I sliced the apples thin to eat with the thinly sliced sharp cheddar… great in salads too.

I sauteed the oyster mushrooms with some olive oil, onion, thyme, parsley and butter. You can use whatever herbs you like, salt and pepper of course. Serve with goat cheese and a baguette, or pasta or eggs.

Keep it easy. Enjoy!
